INSTRUCTORS

 

Izabella holds an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. Her awards and grants include Winspear Fund Grant and Dahesh Museum Award in New York. Among her commissions are portraits of Lois Hole, former Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, and Dr. Grant MacEwan. She exhibits across Canada. Izabella has been an art instructor at the Faculty of Extension of the University of Alberta for the past 15 years. She enjoys working as an art teacher for the Edmonton Public School District. She is also a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta.

 

 

 

BogdanKoral Konikowski

 is an artist – educator from Edmonton, Alberta. He received his formal fine arts education in Poland. Since then, Bogdan has painted many exquisite paintings. Among his commissioned works are the life-size portrait of the late Honourable Lois E. Hole, former Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and of Dr. Grant MacEwan. In collaboration with his wife, fellow- artist, he has created a number of portrait series that were exhibited across Canada. Bogdan is very versatile in terms of the subjects he undertakes. Using chiaroscuro and glazing techniques, Bogdan has come to specialize in painting murals and reproducing the works of the Great Masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer or Velazquez.

  • 2. One kneadable eraser

  • 3. One pad of drawing paper 8.5”x11.5” or larger (approx. 30sheets)

  • 4. One pad of drawing paper suitable for watercolours  8.5”x11.5” or larger (approx. 20 sheets)  

  • 6. A set of watercolour crayons (8-12)

 PAINTING

 1.    Oil paint (student’s grade):

  •                §  Titanium White (the biggest tube you can find)

  • §  Lemon Yellow (hue)

  • §  Cadmium Yellow Medium (hue)

  • §  Cadmium Red Lt. (hue)

  • §  Yellow Ochre

  • §  Alizarin Crimson

  • §  Venetian Red or English Red

  • §  Phalo Green or Viridian

  • §  Cerulean Blue (hue)

  • §  Ultramarine Blue

  • §  Phalo Blue

  • §  Dioxizine Purple

  • §  Burnt Umber

  • §  Ivory Black

2.  Brushes: medium soft synthetic (filberts- Ό”, 1/8”; flats- ½”, 3/3”;  pointed- 2 small ones for sketching)                   

3. Medium: Liquin or linseed oil

4. Canvas: min. 4, size up to 16”x 20”

5.  Apron or any suitable clothes for painting
